Tennis prediction: Gael Monfils - Mikael Imer

In the 1/8 finals at the ATP tournament in Montpellier, Frenchman Gael Monfils will play against Mikael Imer from Sweden.

The 35-year-old Monfils is just starting at the tournament in Montpellier. Gael did not play doubles matches, and therefore had a minimum of time to adapt to the court. In the 1/64 finals , Gael beat Argentine Federico Coria in three sets – 6:1; 6:1; 6:3. Then a confident victory over Alexander Bublik from Kazakhstan followed in the 1/32 finals – 6:1; 6:0; 6:4. In the 1/16 finals, Monfils did not leave a chance to Christian Garin from Chile – 7:6 (7:4); 6:1; 6:3. In the 1/8 finals, the Serb Miomir Ketsmanovich was defeated – 7:5; 7:6 (7:4); 6:3. But in the quarterfinals Gael was stopped by Italian Matteo Berrettini, but to win he had to spend almost four hours on the court and play all five sets – 6:4; 6:4; 3:6; 3:6; 6:2.

Mikael Imer

The 23-year-old representative of Sweden, in turn, in the 1/16 finals the day before yesterday, confidently beat another Frenchman Corentin Moute. In the first set, Imer lost a game on his serve in the middle of the game, but was able to recoup pretty quickly and reach the score of 4:4. After that, the tennis players already worked quite competently on their serve and eventually reached the tie-break, where the Swede was able to finish off his opponent – 7:6 (7:5). In the second set, Imer acted more confidently and in the middle of the game, Mikael was able to make a break, which allowed him to close the set with a score of 6:4 with sufficient confidence this time.

Gael Monfils and Mikael Imer met each other last summer at Roland Garros. On the ground, the Swede was stronger in four sets and thus made a sensation – 6:0; 2:6; 6:4; 6:3.

Forecast

In this match, bookmakers consider Gael Monfils the favorite, but still for the Frenchman it will be the first game after the Australian Open, which promises some problems. Perhaps this time the Imer will not be able to make a sensation, but it is quite possible to impose a fight on the Swede, and therefore we suggest that you put more than 20.5 games on the total.
