On the last competitive day of the second stage of the Biathlon World Cup, two more interesting races will take place. We bring to your attention the forecast for the men's pursuit race, which will close the stage in the Swedish Ostersund.
Sebastian Samuelsson, who has already won two personal races in a row, thanks to which he became the leader of the overall World Cup standings, is striking in his native land. The main trump card of the Swede now is an incredible distance speed. He has a 20-second margin in front of two Frenchmen, but still it's not enough for a race with four firing lines. His pursuers, moreover, are also far from slow. We will bet on Kentin Fillon-Maillet, who received a solid boost of confidence after his success in the relay the day before, where he brought his team to second place, not getting to the Norwegian quite a bit.
One of the losers of the relay was Eduard Latypov, who will try to rehabilitate himself in the pursuit, where he will start fourth. Of course, the competitors are very strong, but Latypov is well prepared functionally and is able to work at zero in shooting with the right attitude. Bookmakers offer a very tempting odds that Eduard will be on the podium.
We will also be waiting for the breakthrough of our debutant Vasily Tomshin, who is very strong psychologically and shoots very well at the start of the new season, due to which he was twice on the podium in the IBU Cup. Alexander Povarnitsyn is not so stable at the borders, so he should be lower than Tomshin in the finish protocol. Traditionally, a reliable bet in the pursuit is on the Austrian sniper Simon Eder, who looks very decent in terms of speed at the start of the Olympic season. The Norwegian Bakken, who is able to stay above Destier due to better work on the firing lines, struck with confidence in Saturday's relay.
