The 27-year-old Russian tennis player, in turn, due to the late start on March 26, was only able to finish the match in the 1/16 finals yesterday. Gakhov played a confident match and was able to beat Dennis Novak from Austria in two sets – 6:3; 7:5. At the very beginning of the match, Ivan made two consecutive breaks and led 3-0 in games. Immediately after that, the Russian tennis player lost a game on his serve and began to work from a minimal advantage. Further, in the middle of the set, with the score 5:3 in games, Gakhov made the third break and thus Ivan confidently closed the game in his favor. In the second set, Gakhov and Novak initially worked competently on their serves, but the scores were 3:2 in games, the tennis players exchanged breaks. After that, Ivan and Dennis continued to work competently on their serves, which made the game protracted. However, with the score 6:5 in games, Gakhov made the second break and thus Ivan was able to close the game in his favor. The tennis players spent one hour and thirty-five minutes on the court.

Ivan Gakhov and Javier Barranco-Cosano have played against each other three times since 2017, the Spaniard won twice in this confrontation. The last time Gakhov and Barranco-Cosano played each other was on October 9th, 2022, in the final of the ITF clay tournament in Zaragoza. Then Ivan was stronger in three sets – 6:4; 1:6; 6:2.
