In the first set, Daniil completely dominated the court, although at times he worked hard on his serve, as a result, Medvedev made three consecutive breaks. At the same time, at the end of the first set, Medvedev had a muscle injury, but after a medical timeout, Daniil was able to continue the match. In the second set, Medvedev still did not immediately play out and eventually lost the game quite quickly on his serve, as a result, Daniil settled for the score of 1:3. However, after that, Medvedev was already able to add quickly enough and as a result, Daniil was able to recoup and reach the score of 3:3. And already with the score 5:4 in his favor, Medvedev made the second break in the set, which also allowed Daniil to close the match in his favor. The tennis players spent an hour and a half on the court.

Daniil Medvedev and Stanislas Wawrinka last played against each other on September 22 at the ATP tournament in Metz. Then on the hard in the 1/8 finals, the representative of Switzerland made a very big sensation and won in three sets – 6:4; 6:7 (7:9); 6:3.
