In the 1/8 finals of the challenger in Forli, Canadian Vasek Pospisil will play against Matteo Gigante from Italy.
Matteo Gigante
The 20-year-old Italian started the home tournament with a sensation this week. In the 1/16 finals, Gigante beat Russian tennis player Alexey Vatutin in two sets in an hour and a half with sufficient confidence - 6:2; 6:4.
Vashek Pospisil
But the 31-year-old Canadian experienced a lot of problems in his first match in 2021. In the 1/16 finals, Pospisil played against the modest Gijs Brouwer from the Netherlands, but it took almost two and a half hours for Vashek to succeed – 5:7; 7:6 (7:5); 6:4.
Forecast
Vashek Pospisil in his best years, of course, would not even come to Forli, but he has long ceased to show high-quality tennis, and therefore here he needs to try to go as far as possible, if not to win this challenger. In the match with Gigante, of course, Vashek will first of all count on his serve. If the Italian does not find something to surprise his more status opponent, Pospisil will have to hold a more confident match and win it in two sets and without a particularly stubborn struggle.
