In the 1/16 challenger finals in Canada, Jiri Vesely from the Czech Republic will play against Aidan Mayo from the USA.
Aidan Mayo, a 30-year-old representative of the USA, confidently made his way into the main draw of the challenger in Canada through qualification.
In the semi–finals of the qualification, Mayo confidently beat Canadian Christian Lakoseljac in two sets - 6:4; 6:2. And the day before yesterday, Aidan won a strong-willed victory over another representative of Canada Taha Baadi in the final of the qualification in three sets – 3:6; 6:1; 6:1. The tennis players spent one hour on the court and thirty-five minutes.
Jiri Vesely, a 29-year-old representative of the Czech Republic, played unsuccessfully at the challenger in Vancouver last week.
Vesely only reached the 1/8 finals, where he unexpectedly lost to Frenchman Gilles Simon in a hard struggle – 6:2; 3:6; 6:7 (0:7). At the same time, in the third set Jiri led with a break and came out to score 5:2 in games, but in the end the Czech managed to lose all his advantage.
