Stefanos Tsitsipas from Greece will play against Thiago Zabota-Wild from Brazil in the 1/8 finals of the ATP-250 tournament in Antwerp.
Thiago Zabot-Wild
The 24-year-old Brazilian representative has been performing well in Belgium since qualifying. On October 13, Zabotwild scored a strong-willed victory over Emilien Demane from Belgium in the semifinals in three sets – 5:7; 7:6 (7:5); 6:4.
On October 14, in the qualifying final, Thiago had a more confident match and beat Mark Layal from Estonia in two sets – 6:2; 6:3.
The day before yesterday, in the 1/16 finals, Zabot-Wild did not have the easiest match, but still beat Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi-Perricar in two sets – 7:6 (7:4); 6:3. In the first set, both tennis players worked competently on their serves throughout the game, which eventually led to a tie- break. In the tiebreak, Thiago continued to play without mistakes and thus he was able to close the set in his favor. At the very beginning of the second set, Zabotwild made an important break for himself and, due to competent work on his serve, he came out 3-0 in games. In the middle of the set, with the score 4:1 in games, the Brazilian could have made a second break, but this time Thiago missed the advantage in the game on the opponent's serve from the score of 40:15. Nevertheless, after that, Zabotwild continued to work competently on his serve and eventually brought the match to victory without much difficulty. The tennis players spent one hour and twenty minutes on the court.
Thiago Zabot-Wild is currently ranked 80th in the ATP rankings.
Stefanos Tsitsipas
The 26-year-old representative of Greece, in turn, is just preparing for the start in Antwerp in singles. The last time Tsitsipas played singles was at the Masters in Shanghai. In China, Stefanos did not play very well and only reached the 1/8 finals, where he lost in two sets to Daniil Medvedev from Russia – 6:7 (4:7); 3:6. This game was on the ninth of October.
Stefanos Tsitsipas played doubles in Antwerp yesterday. In the 1/8 finals, Stefanos, along with his brother Petros, lost in two sets to representatives of the Netherlands Robin Haase and David Pel – 3:6; 4:6. The tennis players spent one hour and five minutes on the court.
At the moment, Stefanos Tsitsipas is ranked 11th in the ATP rankings.
Forecast
In this match, Stefanos Tsitsipas is considered by bookmakers to be an almost unconditional favorite. However, given that the Greek has not played singles for quite some time, and Thiago is in good shape, there may be quite a stubborn struggle here.
