In the 1/16 finals of the WTA tournament in Linz, Russian tennis players Varvara Gracheva and Anna Blinkova will play against each other.
Varvara Gracheva22-year-old Gracheva got into the main draw of the tournament in Austria as a lucky loser after qualifying.
On February fifth, Gracheva beat Cinya Kraus from Austria in two sets in the semifinals of the qualification – 6:2; 6:4. And yesterday in the final of the qualification Varvara lost in three sets to Anna-Lena Friedsam from Germany – 6:2; 3:6; 1:6. In the first set, Gracheva showed a very confident game and won the game with two consecutive breaks, the Russian tennis player played out with a score of 2:2 in games. At the very beginning of the second set, Gracheva and Fridzam exchanged breaks. Friedsam, in turn, continued to show stable tennis, and with the score 5:1, the German made the third break in the set, which allowed her to close the game with a crushing score. The tennis players spent two hours on the court.
Anna Blinkova24-year-old Blinkova, in turn, is now in far from the best condition.
Last week, Anna was unable to play a full match in the 1/16 finals at the tournament in Lyon. Blinkova lost in three sets to her compatriot Erika Andreeva – 7:6 (7:3); 4:6; 0:4 and Anna's subsequent refusal. This game was on January 31.
Between themselves, Anna Blinkova and Varvara Gracheva last played on January seventh in qualifying for the WTA tournament in Hobart. Then Blinkova won a crushing victory – 6:1; 6:1.
