In the 1/8 finals of the ATP tournament in Cordoba, Pedro Martinez Portero from Spain will play against Argentine Juan Ignacio Londero.
Juan Ignacio Londero
The 28-year-old representative of Argentina made a small sensation last night in the 1/16 finals and confidently beat Yannick Hanfmann from Germany in two sets. In the first set, Londero made a break in the middle of the game and, thanks to competent actions on his serve, brought the matter to victory with a score of 6:3. In the second set, the situation repeated itself, in the middle of the game Juan Ignacio made a break, and thanks to a good game on his serve, the Argentine won the set with a score of 6:4.
Pedro Martinez Portero
The 24-year-old representative of Spain, in turn, played his match of the 1/16 finals on the evening of January 31. Martinez Portero had a difficult match against Brazilian Thiago Monteiro, but still won a strong-willed victory in three sets. In the first game, Pedro quickly made a break and led with a score of 3:1, but towards the end of the set, the Spaniard managed to lose a game twice in a row on his serve and eventually lose the set with a score of 4:6. In the second set, Martinez Portero also quickly made a break and again came out on the score 3:1. This time Pedro already worked competently on his serve and eventually brought the game to his victory - 6:4. In the third set, Martinez Portero, with the score 3:4 in favor of Monteiro, lost the game on his serve and was on the verge of defeat, but Pedro showed character and immediately made a reverse break. As a result, then the tennis players already played more calmly and brought the matter to a tie-break, where the Spaniard was stronger – 7:6 (7:4).
Forecast
Although Juan Ignacio Londero was able to play a good match against Hanfmann, Pedro Martinez Portero got more time to rest, which is important. Also, the Spaniard has repeatedly shown character in the last match, showing that he is not going to leave Cordoba quickly. In this meeting, Martinez Portero is considered the bookmakers' favorite, and we are inclined to agree with these.
