The teams of Brazil and South Korea will meet in the 1/8 finals of the World Cup. Will one of the favorites of the tournament win an easy victory, or are we waiting for a sensation? We'll figure it out.
Brazil won their group with six points in the asset. After the first two matches, the Brazilians guaranteed themselves a place in the playoffs of the tournament, having won over Serbia (2:0) and Switzerland (1:0), and for the final game against the Cameroon national team (0:1) they fielded a reserve squad.
Brazil has won its group at 11 consecutive World Cups since 1982.
The main star of the national team after the injury to Neymar, who most likely will not take part in the first match of the playoffs, was Tottenham forward Richarlison, who scored 2/3 of his team's goals at the tournament.
South Korea unexpectedly reached the playoffs of the tournament, leaving behind the strong national teams of Uruguay and Ghana. In the first match, the Asian team went headless against the national team of Uruguay, in the second dramatic match lost to the national team of Ghana (2:3). Everything was decided in the last match, in which Son and the team defeated the 2016 European champions, the Portuguese national team, with a score of 1-0.
South Korea has reached the World Cup playoffs for the first time in 12 years and for the third time in its history. In total, she took part in 11 world Cups.
Statistics and figures
- Brazil is the favorite of the match according to bookmakers;
- Brazil scored three times in three games;
- South Korea has conceded twice in three games;
- The teams have met each other five times, South Korea won only one victory in 1999;
- In the last face-to-face meeting, which took place in June this year, the Brazilians won with a score of 5:1.
I think that South Korea has no chance of getting into the next round, especially since the Brazilians gave their leaders an extra rest. The only chance for the Koreans may be the courage they caught after the victory over Portugal.
