В составе сборной Кабо-Верде нет футболистов, знакомых широкому кругу любителей футбола. При этом за команду выступают представители чемпионатов Голландии, Бельгии Швейцарии, Португалии, то есть в целом футболисты довольно качественные. Болельщики азербайджанского «Карабаха» будут поддерживать своего хавбека Патрика Андраде.

Возглавляет «синих акул» местный специалист Педро Лейтао Брито, или, как его принято называть, Бубиста. 51-летний тренер работал с рядом команд Кабо-Верде, а в январе 2020 года получил нынешнее назначение.

Сборная Кабо-Верде играла в усечённой отборочной группе – соперниками были Руанда и Мозамбик, а также в квартет добавили камерунцев, чтобы у хозяев Кубка Африки была игровая практика. «Синие акулы» заняли второе место, уступив как раз «неукротимым львам». При этом команда Кабо-Верде набрала в матчах против камерунцев четыре очка.

Сборная Кабо-Верде постарается пробиться в плей-офф Кубка Африки. Одну путёвку от группы А наверняка завоюют камерунцы, а вот за второе место можно поспорить с Буркина-Фасо. Наличие команды Эфиопии почти гарантирует «синим акулам» третье место.

«Синие акулы» в третий раз примут участие на КАНе. В 2013-м они сенсационно вышли в 1/4 финала, где уступили, а в 2015-м не смогли преодолеть групповой этап.
