Ашкан Дежага появился на свет в столице Ирана. В раннем детстве футболиста семья иммигрировала в Германию, поэтому первые шаги в спорте он совершил уже в Европе. Начав с академии клуба "Теннис-Боруссия", игрок попал в берлинскую "Герту". Проведя четыре года в молодежной команде, он в возрасте 18-и лет дебютировал за основной состав.
